Trio of Raiders Earn WSC Honorable Mention
Baseball places three on conference team
MOORPARK Calif. (May 19, 2026) – At the conclusion of the Western State Conference (WSC) baseball season, the 2026 All-Conference teams were announced and a trio of Moorpark College Raiders landed on the All-WSC Honorable Mention list.
A second-year player for Moorpark College, Jaden Onaca led the way for the Raiders all season as a utility man, roaming the outfield and pitching. He finished as the only MC player batting over .300 in league play, hitting at a .397 clip. In his sophomore campaign, he connected for 25 hits in 19 games with five doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs. Onaca drew a pair of walks and posted a .435 on base percentage as well as a .540 slugging percentage. He stole one base and led the squad with 34 total bases. Onaca tossed 8.1 innings over four appearances in conference contests and struck out 10. Defensively, he tallied 51 putouts and three assists for a .947 fielding percentage.
In his first season of collegiate baseball, Jaxson Herron was selected as Honorable Mention after playing a key role for the Raiders. Herron was second on the squad in WSC action with a .276 batting average, which came from 21 hits in 76 at-bats in 23 league games. He also collected five walks and a pair of stolen bases for MC. Herron finished with eight RBIs and scored six times. Defensively, he was solid in the field, with just one miscue in 75 chances for a .987 fielding percentage. He was part of 45 assists and 29 putouts and played a role in three double-plays.
Joshua Brown rounded out the trio recognized, with an Honorable Mention nod as well. The freshman saw ample playing time in WSC action, appearing in 21 games for the Blue and White. He contributed with 37 putouts and five assists as an infielder and posted a .913 fielding percentage. Offensively, Brown collected 26 total bases, going 17-for-65 with seven walks for a .262 batting average and a .360 on base percentage. He added three doubles and two homeruns among his 17 hits, to finish with a .400 slugging percentage. Brown also added eight RBIs while scoring nine runs in his first season of collegiate ball.
Moorpark (12-28, 6-18 WSC) tied for sixth in the WSC North this spring.
