Natarajan Crowned 3C2A So Cal Regional Champion
Moorpark women place fourth, men finish seventh
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Nov. 7, 2025) – Teams from all across Southern California converged today at the 3C2A So Cal Regional Championships hosted by San Diego Mesa at NTC Park where sophomores Maya Natarajan and Tommy White crossed the finish line first in the women's 5K and men's 4-mile races, respectively.
The women's team worked for a fourth-place finish with a team score of 178. The Raiders raced together, with three scoring runners finishing within nine places of one another in 35th, 39th and 44th.
Natarajan was part of a trio of ladies who raced stride for stride for the first mile and a half of the course. By the three-mile marker she had moved into the lead and down the final stretch she built an advantage of 8.4 seconds when she was first across the finish line in 17:46.9. Dulce Godinez clocked a 20:21.8 as the second Raiders finisher during a strong race that turned out to be a 30-second personal best time. Keira Kassi was next to complete the course in 20:30.3 and Kayla Saxton finished in 20:54.2. The final scoring spot for MC came from Natalia Beltran in 21:17.8. Rounding out the Raiders runners today were Addison Pereira (21:29.1) and Ava Sanders (22:07.4).
Although the student-athletes were running a different course in a different location, Natarajan produced an unbelievable two-minute improvement on her time from the 2024 3C2A So Cal Regional Meet at Chaffey College where she posted a 19:46.9 5K time.
The Mt. SAC (61) team won the Regional title followed by Orange Coast (96) and meet host San Diego Mesa (108).
On the men's side, the Raiders rallied to place seventh as a team with 189 points behind first, eighth, 55th, 60th and 65th place finishes. White got out in front and paced the field throughout the race, in which he clocked a time of 19:56.7 He was at the front throughout the race, leading at the one-and-a-half and three-mile markers before cruising into the finish line alone with his closest competitor trailing by more than 10 seconds. The sophomore harrier ran a sub-five-minute mile average at 4:59.2 and was the only finisher under 20 minutes. A year ago he ran 3C2A So Cal Regionals in 21:00.6, a giant improvement.
Freshman, Trent Williams was next across the line in eighth place with a time of 20:31.5 to become a medalist on a day when he produced a 19-second personal record. Hezekiah Bergara was the third man home in 21:43.2 followed by David Riagoza in 21:47.5. Rounding out the scoring was Angel Garcia with a time of 21:58.3. Freshman Russel Benner (22:49.0) also ran for the Blue and White in his first 3C2A Regional meet today.
The top team finisher today was Riverside City (79) followed by Cerritos (98) and Cuyamaca (121) rounding out the top-three.
It is believed to be the first time that the men's and women's 3C2A So Cal Regional Champion came out of the Moorpark College programs in the same season.
Moorpark was the top Western State Conference program finisher today for both the men and women.
Additionally, both Raiders teams have qualified to compete at the 3C2A State Championships on Saturday, Nov. 22. The final race of the season is scheduled to take place at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. The women will line up at 10:00 a.m. with the men's start at 11:00 a.m.
