Women's Wrestling adds another first to their resume as they host first ever home dual meet in school history
As the inaugural Women's Wrestling season continued, so does the list of firsts continues as they hosted the first ever dual match, in this case it was a tri-dual format with Cuesta and Santa Ana Colleges.
The Raiders opened the night taking on Cuesta. The Raiders fell to Cuesta 23-16. The Raiders forfeited 5 of 10 matches and showed some opening night jitters going in the loss.
Cuesta defeated Santa Ana, 24-12 and the Cougar's night was over.
In the night cap, the Raiders fell to Santa Ana, 26-14. Once again, the Raiders forfeited 5 out of 10 weight classes. Although the score did not reflect the excitement of the night, the Raiders bounced back. Lily Bossoletti won at 117 lbs, 14-3. Emily Hernandez won her match at 131 lbs showing off a wonderful single leg dump ending up with a fall/pin. Ali Nielsen won her match at 124 lbs. She executed several takedowns and displayed a clinic on how to tilt your opponent from top position to get a 10-0 tech fall/pin.
The team is headed up by Head Coach Miles Minton and associate Head Coach Marilyn Garcia. Look out for Moorpark College Raiders as they continue to learn under the best coaches and staff.
