Women’s Golf Brings Home Fourth Place at WSC Championships
Raiders punch ticket to 3C2A Southern California Championships; trio earns All-Conference
SANTA MARIA, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2025) – For the last two days the Moorpark College women’s golf team battled in the 36-hole Western State Conference (WSC) Championships played at Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande and Santa Maria Country Club in Santa Maria on Sunday and Monday, respectively. The Raiders posted a two-day total of 775 to place fourth, earning the team a bid to the 3C2A Southern California Championships.
During the first round of play, MC combined for a 377, which sat the team in fourth, just five strokes behind Santa Barbara City College (372), going into the final day of play. On a course that provided many obstacles and weather challenges from the wind, the Raiders returned today to shoot a 398 and lock up a fourth-place finish in similar or even tougher conditions.
After Sunday play, head coach Daniel Tustin shared, “I was happy with how our team stayed focused and competed regardless,” he went on to add, “The final round was a battle for everyone in wind and thick rough that led to higher scores across the board, but I was really proud that this team persevered and managed to grab the last qualifying spot into SoCal Championships.”
Moorpark was paced by Kalia Aparicio. For the second consecutive year, the sophomore earned All-WSC honors for her play this season. After shooting rounds of 81 on Sunday and 87 today, she finished with an overall individual score of 168 to place third behind Sahya Kitabatke (147, College of the Canyons) and Zan McGovern (159, Allan Hancock).
The All-WSC Team is comprised of the 10 players who produce the top averages throughout the course of the season. Freshmen Savannah Fryhoff and Ali Muncy both earned All-WSC for finishing amongst the Top-10 as well.
This weekend, Fryhoff used a first round 86 and a Monday score of 90 to total a 176, to place sixth overall, while Muncy tallied a 205 on rounds of 101 and 104, respectively.
Golf is a game of inches and mental toughness. The season is a long and trying one and for Muncy, the grueling ups and downs concluded with an All-Conference nod in her inaugural collegiate season.
“I had a lot of growth this season,” she reflected, “It is awesome to see that, not only do I feel like I personally improved, but I also put up competitive scores.” Muncy added, “This is definitely a huge accomplishment and I was really excited to share the news with family and friends who have supported me throughout the season.” She went on to acknowledge that the experience has been made complete with great teammates and supportive coaches.
Rounding out the MC scoring for the tournament was Ricille Casino whose rounds of 109 and 117 both contributed to the total tally. Liliana Morency and Chelcie Small both suited up for the Blue and White as well.
In an extremely close finish, College of the Canyons (718) earned the WSC title, one stroke ahead of Allan Hancock (719). Santa Barbara City (764) was third ahead of Moorpark (775). Rounding out the field were Bakersfield (800), Antelope Valley (927) and Citrus (972).
The season resumes on Nov. 9-10 at the 3C2A Southern California Championships when golfers from across the region converge at the Olivas Links Golf Course in Ventura, Calif. Tee times will be announced soon.
