White Finishes as Runner-Up at 3C2A State Championship
Moorpark men’s cross country team takes 8th
FRESNO, Calif. (Nov. 22, 2025) – The California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) Men's Cross Country State Championships was a memorable one for the Raiders and Tommy White whose runner-up finish inked his name in the State record books with his race time today of 19:58.4, now ranking him tied for sixth on the Woodward Park Top Times list for the 4-mile course.
The course was in great condition for the Raiders who ran as part of a 194-man field. The Moorpark College men's cross country team joined forces to finish eighth of 24 teams in the State, behind a 201 point performance, at the 3C2A State Championships.
Alongside a second-place finish from sophomore White (2 pts), Trent Williams (12 pts), David Raigoza (59 pts), Hezekiah Bergara (61 pts) and Logan Torres (67 pts) all contributed to the team total today.
White made his final MC cross country race a memorable one. He got out ahead with the frontrunners and posted a 4:45.2 first mile before he took over the lead at the two-mile marker, by a narrow margin of four tenths of a second. By the next marker, at 2.8 miles, Cuesta's Weston Greenelsh (14:40.1) had edged White (14:40.5) and at the 3.03 mile check point, Greenelsh pushed the gap a little more to lead 15:08.8 to 15:09.5. Down the final stretch the runners remained in the same positions, finishing back-to-back. While White didn't take home gold today, he was instrumental in pacing Greenelsh who set a new course record, which is something to be commended.
Throughout the season, the duo, and league rivals, has exchanged victories. White took home the title at the 3C2A SoCal Regional Championships while Greenelsh won the WSC Championships title.
In his first State Championship race, Williams competed well and finished 12th with a 20:33.6 clocking, which was a 5:08.3 average mile pace. Raigoza was the next man across the line in 21:29.1 for 64th and Bergara was two spots back in 21:31.8 for 66th. Rounding out the scoring was Torres' time of 21:37.0.
Both sophomore Angel Garcia (22:06.7) and freshman Russell Benner (22:49.8) represented Moorpark today as well.
Five harriers, Bergara, Garcia, Raigoza, Torres and White, suited up in cross country Blue and White for the final time today. Many of the team members who competed today will also compete as part of the MC track & field program in the spring.
With the 2025 3C2A State Championships in the rearview mirror, White in some great Moorpark alumni company on the Woodward Park Top Times list.
