S. Nelson Earns Second Team All Northern Division Honors
Three earn Honorable Mention
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May 20, 2026) – Announced earlier this month by the California Community College Men's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCMVCA), a quartet of Moorpark College Raiders was honored on the All-Northern Conference teams.
Sean Nelson, an outside hitter, wrapped up his sophomore season with a Second Team nod after guiding the Raiders with a team-high 156 kills (3.06/set) in 14 conference matches. He appeared in more games than anyone else with 51 sets, providing 7.35 attacks per game. S. Nelson finished with a .269 hitting percentage. He handed out 10 assists and notched 22 service aces for the Raiders. Finally, S. Nelson finished with 83 digs (1.63/set) and 26 accumulated blocks from 22 assists and four solo stops, which led the team. Overall, he provided 193.0 points in conference action, which equated to a team-leading 3.8 points per set.
Three players took home Honorable Mention, including libero Joey Nelson, outside hitter/opposite Owen Peterson and outside hitter Nicholas Songco.
In 28 sets over 14 league matches, Peterson led the Raiders with 90 digs (1.88/set). He finished third on the team with 119 kills for 2.48/set and finished with 6.40 total attacks per set for the Raiders. He hit .208 in his final season. Overall, he provided the Blue and White with 138.0 points for 2.9 points per set. Peterson added a solo block and 12 block assists for MC while putting down 12 service aces as s sophomore.
Songco was second on the squad with 135 kills for 2.93/set and 6.93 attacks per set in conference contests. He hit .226 and tallied 153.3 total points for 3.3 points per set this spring. He also supplied 23 block assists and three solo blocks while recording four service aces during his 13 matches and 46 sets.
J. Nelson was a leader on and off the court all season. He played in all 14 league matches and appeared in 49 games, tallying 249 receptions, which was second on the team. The sophomore recorded 66 digs for 1.35/set for third most on the team. Additionally, he supplied 25 assists, eight service aces and a pair of kills in his final season for the Raiders.
Moorpark finished with an 11-11 overall record and a 7-7 conference finish.
