MOORPARK, Calif. (Jan. 30, 2026) – In the 2026 men's volleyball home opener, the Raiders ran away with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-21) victory over the visiting Santiago Canyon Hawks inside of Raider Pavilion this evening.

The home squad never trailed in the first two sets and battled back-and-forth with the visiting team until the Blue and White erased a 13-12 deficit and ultimately turned it into a three-point advantage halfway through the set. Owen Peterson evened the score at 13-13 and promptly went back to serve four. The first service ended with a big block from Nicholas Songco and Danny Guerrero to break the tie for a 14-13 lead, the second concluded with a kill from Oliver Boton before the third was capped off with an ace for a 16-13 lead, forcing a SC timeout.

Although Santiago Canyon earned the ensuing point, the Raiders remained in control, never relinquishing the lead until the final point fell on a Songco kill. The mid-game run proved instrumental in the win.

The first set was sealed with an ace from Boton while Songco ended the second set with a kill on a pass from Boton.

Moorpark evens its season record to 1-1 after a 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, 22-25) opening day loss to Orange Coast on Tuesday. Songco led the way with eight kills while Reagan Sager tallied five. Both Sean Nelson and Sinjon Laughton chipped in with four. Marco Farabolini dished out a dozen assists and Boton, S. Nelson and Jake Morales each had a service ace. Defensively, Joey Nelson recorded five digs while six other players had a pair apiece. The team combined for 7 block assists in the loss.

On Tuesday, Boton, Farabolini, Morales and  Jackson Riepe each made his MC debut.

Moorpark (0-1, 0-0 WSC) returns to the court on Tuesday, Feb. 3 when the Raiders host Golden West in nonconference action beginning at 6:00 p.m. inside Raider Pavilion.
