Vives 2nd in High Jump, Holland 3rd in 400m to lead Men’s Track to a 5th place finish at 3C2A State Meet
MISSION VIEJO, CA - The Raider Men's Track & Field team wrapped up their season at the 3C2A State meet hosted by Saddleback College.
The 7 qualifiers and the 4x400m Relay team combined for 35 points for an overall 5th place finish.
Cytres Vives the state leader all season with the best mark in the High Jump, finished in 2nd place. He was in a tight battle with Sacramento's Ray Oldham. They were the two remaining jumpers as they both cleared 6'8 3/4. The bar was moved up to 6'10". Vives and Oldham missed on all 3 of their attempts at 6'10" thus tying the two at 6'8 3/4". So it came down to misses and Vives missed on his 1st jump of the the day at the opening height 6'2". That was was difference
Michael Holland qualified for the 200m, 400m, and was the anchor of the 4x440m Relay team. Holland's first race of the day was the 400m where he finished in 3rd with a time of 47.44. That places him in 3rd on the MC all-time 400m list. He took 7th in the 200m, clocking in at 21.39 which will put him in the 4 spot on MC's all-time 200m list. Holland's and the meet's last race of the day was 4x400m Relay. Seth Mack led off and finished his leg in 6th place, Carson Zeedik took the baton and moved quickly to 5th after Mt Sac dropped their baton in the 1 to 2 exchange. Tyler Zeedik was the 3rd leg of the relay and maintained the Raiders position at 5th. Holland anchor time of 46.7 capped off the 5th place finish for the Raiders.
Decathlete Jordan Navarro scored 6262 points to take 4th place. That puts him 6th in MC's all-time Decathlon list.
Ethan Smith finished in 5th in the 1500m in a time of 3:52.17. That puts him at 5th place in MC's all-time 1500m list
Dylan Brown was 6th in the 10,000m with a time of 31:19.95. Kade Larson was 6th in the Discus with a throw of 146'9".
The last qualifier for the Raiders was Discus thrower Benjamin Nathanson who placed in 12th.
