Football Concludes Regular Season with Fifth Straight Win; Punch Playoff Ticket
Moorpark uses sophomore day to celebrate
MOORPARK, Calif. (Nov. 12, 2025) – On a day when the sophomore class was recognized in Griffin Stadium, the Moorpark College football team worked together to make the day even more memorable with a 30-13 victory over Long Beach on Nov. 8. After the contest, the Raiders learned they had also punched a playoff ticket as they earned a Bowl bid.
Valentino Lara had a clutch day with a trio of field goals, marked at 31, 27 and 29 yards while adding a pair of point after touchdowns to tally 11 total points in his final home contest.
The Raiders looked to Lara's foot first just five minutes into the game for the initial scoring. MC added to its tally at the start of the second period when Ethan Lasecla connected with Jude Hooks for a 20- yard completion and TD. Lara knocked one through the upright to push the lead to 10-0. Lara's second FG came late in the second frame, but it was not the final scoring of the half. That would come from Hooks on his second TD catch of the game, with just eight ticks to play before the break, from Sirawn Evans. Long Beach added one more score after halftime, but the Raiders responded with another Lara FG and a second Evans-Hooks touchdown, this one for 38 yards, and a point after from Adrian Szabo to close out the offense on the day.
Moorpark exploded for 489 yards of total offense in the game. Evans was 16-for-24 for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Aidan Karsh threw for 166 yards on 16-for-26 passing and Lasecla was 1-for-2 for 20 yards and a TD. Carson Green carried the ball 10 times for 55 yards and Lasecla scurried for 17 yards. Hooks had three TDs on four catches that totaled 77 yards but Angel Urban snagged game-highs with eight catches and 120 yards. Hooks and Don Hibbett each had a 38-yard catch.
Defensively, Moorpark notched eight tackles from Nolan Story with seven of them being solo stops. Jaden Mosley and Kenny Nevitt each recorded a sack for a loss of nine, Da Vaughn Robinson had a sack for a loss of eight and Szabo tallied a sack for a loss of seven.
The Raiders have outscored their opponents 191-70 in the last five games of the season with one shutout. Moorpark finished the season with a 5-2 National Northern League record behind Mt. SAC (6-1) and Ventura (6-1).
On Saturday, Nov. 22, 11 Bowl games will take place all over the state with games in Southern California and five scheduled in Northern California. Moorpark (6-4) will travel to Southwestern (7-3) for the Patriotic Bowl. A preview from Southwestern can be found here. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
