Football Upsets No. 17 Citrus to Take Third Straight
Moorpark evens season record; moves to 3-2 in NCC
GLENDORA, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2025) – The Moorpark College football team used a bye week in early October to its advantage. Since the break, the Raiders have gone 3-0, scoring 40 or more points in each of the last three games. Most recently, MC spoiled 3C2A No. 17 Citrus' Homecoming taking down the Owls, 42-27, on the road.
With the win, Moorpark evened its season record at 4-4 and moved to 3-2 in Northern National Conference (NNC) play while Citrus fell to 4-4 and 2-3 in NCC play.
Moorpark delivered another stellar offensive output with 477 total yards of offense, 100 more than Citrus. MC tallied 337 yards through the air and 140 on the ground. The Raiders collected 29 first downs and maintained possession of the ball for 34:37.
Moorpark struck first and quickly when Nolan Story intercepted Citrus quarterback Brian Salazar Jr. on the first play of the game and returned the ball 30 yards. Carson Green went on to rush for a 15-yard touchdown at the 14:06 mark of the game to get the scoring underway. After Citrus put up back-to-back scores, Jude Hooks continued his offensive tear with a 33-yard connection from Aidan Karsh for six to knot things at 14-14. Karsh then ran for a five-yard score to push the tally to 21-14. MC drove 77 yards in the final three minutes of the second quarter to break a 21-21 tie. The score swung momentum in Moorpark's favor entering the intermission when Ja'Tyrian Moore caught a nine-yard TD pass from Karsh just before halftime that put Moorpark on top, 28-21.
Out of the break, The Raiders built on their lead. First, Ben'tre Worthy caught a short one-yard touchdown before Karsh followed with a two-yard run from the quarterback for the final scoring of the day by Moorpark.
The offensive unit was led by Karsh (27-for-41) who hit eight different targets with a trio of passing touchdowns plus 18 total yards rushing for two TDs by foot. Moore topped the century mark for the first time of his career and finished with a season-best and team-leading 146 yards receiving on eight catches, including a 45-yard connection, the longest completion of the day for the Raiders. Hooks nabbed eight passes for 84 yards and Angel Urban also had six catches. On the ground, chipping in with five carries for 30 total yards was Naiim Morgan and Ryan Yenokian had seven attempts for 25 yards. Green led the run game with 14 touches, his longest a 15-yard scurry.
Defensively, 19 difference players contributed with at least one tackle or assist. Story continued to shine with nine tackles, including seven solo stops. Additionally, he broke up two plays, had a tackle for a loss of three and grabbed his fifth interception of the season when he picked off Citrus and returned the ball 30 yards. Tyler Woods had another great game as well, recording his first interception of the year, a 24-yard return. Woods added five tackles, including an assist on a tackle for a loss. Shyne Kalilikane notched eight tackles and Aurelio Medrano finished with six. Kililikane and Da Vaughn Robinson each had a sack, for a loss of five and four yards, respectively.
Valentino Lara knocked out 6-for-6 PATs for six points today. Karratti Kala kicked off seven times, averaging 44.3 yards per kickoff. Both Dylan Hassid and Jake O'leary punted once apiece.
Moorpark (4-4, 3-2 NNC) returns to campus to cap off Homecoming week festivities with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff against Santa Ana inside Griffin Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 1.
