Raiders Return to Win Column
Football earns first conference victory
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2025) – Moorpark headed north over the weekend to face off with Santa Barbara in Northern National Conference play where the Raiders controlled play from start to finish and returned to Moorpark with a 40-7 victory.
Coming off a bye week, the Raiders were fresh and ready for action. MC struck first and never looked back, outscoring SB 40-0 before a late score got the host squad on the board.
Aiden Karsh finished the day going 19-for-29 for 374 yards, more than the entire SB offense (262), and accounted for five total touchdowns, four passing and one rushing. His longest connection of the game was a 59-yarder to Jude Hooks who was responsible for two of those scores on a day when he nabbed eight passes for 165 yards. Meanwhile, the defense tallied 83 total tackles with KK Johnson and Mene Vaaalii recoding sacks for a loss of 8- and 7-yards, respectively.
In the first quarter, Karsh connected with Oliver Ortiz for a 5-yard completion and the first touchdown of the game. With 1:04 remaining in the opening period of play, Karsh scurried for a one-yard TD run, pushing the lead to 12-0.
Similarly to the first frame, MC lit up the scoreboard again with 5:43 to play in the half when Karsh and Hooks combined for a 15-yard completion before Valentino Lara knocked the PAT through the uprights to add seven more to the tally. Just before the halftime buzzer sounded, Karsh found Ja’Tyrian Moore for a 34-yard pass that finished in the end zone, Lara put another point on the board, pushing the score to 26-0 entering the break.
Out of halftime, the Raiders again looked to Hooks who grabbed a 12-yard pass from Karsh to score at the 10:23 mark, with another Lara PAT, as the only third quarter scoring on either side.
Under a minute into the final frame, Ethan Lasecla got in on the action, rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown before Lara rounded out the MC scoring in the game with his fourth point of the night.
Ten different players recorded a catch in the game and six players rushed for positive yards. Ryan Yenokian led the run game with 42 yards on four carries with his longest tapping out at 15 yards. Sirawn Evans rushed for 24 yards and went 4-for-5 passing for 57 yards, including a 31-yard completion to Rhys Kelly on the last drive of the game.
The defense looked to Nolan Story for the only interception of the game for MC, returning the ball 10 yards. Overall, 29 different players recorded a tackle or assist. Dylan Valdez, Da Vaughn Robinson and Andrew Ruiz each had six tackles in the win and the quartet of Evan Watts, Kevin Brannon, Alan Gbee and Teagan Neron had five tackles apiece, with Neron’s all being solo stops.
Moorpark (2-4, 1-2 NNC) returns to Griffin Stadium this Saturday, Oct. 18 to host Allan Hancock at 4:00 p.m.
