Beach Volleyball Set to Serve in League Action
Raiders wrap up preseason competition
MOORPARK, Calif. (March 12, 2026) – The 2026 Moorpark College women's beach volleyball season has seen competitive action on the sand courts to prepare for Western State Conference (WSC) play this spring.
The Raiders opened with back-to-back wins in January and rode a five-match win-streak, winning each contest by a 5-0 margin, to cruise through the middle of February. The end of the month proved more challenging with a tough 3-2 loss to San Diego Mesa to round out preseason play, leaving the Blue and White sitting at 7-3.
A twelve-match WSC slate arrived with the turning of the page to March and the Raiders look to pick up their first conference win(s) this Friday, March 13 when they travel to Cuesta to face both the host and Santa Barbara at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., respectively. Kicking off the month, MC played a tough Ventura team to a 3-2 final before dropping a 5-0 decision to Santa Monica on March 6.
The No.1 pair of Natsune Makino and sophomore Alesia Thomas was honored by the WSC as Athletes of the Month for January, in which the duo defeated Long Beach City College (2-1) with sets of 21-15, 17-21 and 15-10 before taking down Mt. San Jacinto's top team (2-0) by 21-18 and 21-15 margins. They have since gone on to defeat Grossmont (2-0), Irvine Valley (2-0), El Camino (2-0), Cerritos (2-0), San Diego Miramar (2-0), Mt. SAC (2-0) and San Diego Mesa (2-1) with their only hiccup to date coming against MiraCosta.
Moorpark (7-5, 0-2 WSC) will remain on the road on Friday, March 20 at Bakersfield, to face both BC and Ventura before returning home to host Santa Barbara and Glendale on Friday, March 27 at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
