Raiders Rewind: Full Swing for Fall Sports; Natarajan Honored by WSC
MC continues to compete
MOORPARK, Calif. (Oct. 8, 2025) –Moorpark College is fully into league competition with lots of close and competitive contests having taken place over the last week. Rewind and take a look back at what happened Oct. 2-8, 2025, for all eight competing programs.
Men’s Cross Country / Women’s Cross Country
After a tough and competitive preseason schedule, the Moorpark College cross country teams are busy preparing for the Western State Conference Championships, which will be held right here in Moorpark at Arroyo Vista on Friday, Oct. 24. The women toe the line at 10:00 a.m. while the men follow with an 11:00 a.m. starting gun.
After a first place finish at the UC Riverside Invitational in the Open 5K, Maya Natarajan was named WSC Runner of the Week with 3C2A recognition as well and this week was honored with WSC Women’s Cross Country Student of the Month honors.
Football (1-4, 0-2 NNC)
The Raiders used a bye week to rest and prepare for the next five weeks of National Northern Conference play. MC returns to the gridiron this Saturday, Oct. 11 when the squad heads to Santa Barbara where the teams kickoff at 6:00 p.m.
Women’s Golf
On a beautiful Monday morning, the women’s golf squad competed in the WSC #6 at the Encino Golf Course where the Raiders teamed up to take fourth place. MC combined to shoot 372 behind a 78 from Kalia Aparicio. Her scored was a share for third, individually. Ali Muncy shot an 89 followed by Savannah Fryhoff at 95. Ricille Casino (110) was the final scoring player.
Next up for Moorpark is the two-day Central Coast Classic on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 12-13. Teams will convene at the Alisal River Course in Solvang as a 3C2A State Championship preview. Tee time is set for 11:00 a.m. each day.
Men’s Soccer (4-3-3, 0-0 WSC)
Western State Conference play begins on Friday, Oct. 10 for the Moorpark Raiders who will host Oxnard for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff. The team had a week free of competition in anticipation of upcoming league action. Both live stats and live video are available for the game.
Women’s Soccer (6-5-1, 1-2-1 WSC)
On Friday, Oct. 3, the Raiders dropped a tough 2-0 loss to LA Pierce before bouncing back with a 3-0 victory over Oxnard on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Alysa Diaz got off two shots on target in each game, with her first-half goal serving as the ultimate game-winner against Oxnard. Both Angelina Rodriguez and Katelyn Andrew found the back of the net in the win as well and Ella Navarrete supplied an assist on the final goal of the day. Maria Sturges turned away the only attempt on goal for one save.
Moorpark heads to Cuesta on Friday afternoon, Oct. 10, for a 4:00 p.m. showdown.
Women’s Volleyball (13-7, 3-1 WSC)
Moorpark split this week, falling 3-1 on Friday, Oct. 3, to Santa Barbara before rebounding to defeat Allan Hancock 3-1 on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Olivia Campini and Genessa Johnson combined for 28 of the 39 team kills in the loss to SB. MC bounced back for a 25-13, 25-20, 24-26, 25-7 home court victory tonight. More information to follow.
Up next for the Raiders is a 6:00 p.m. road match at Cuesta on Friday, Oct. 10.
Men’s Wrestling
On Friday, Oct. 3, Moorpark hosted Lemoore for the first home contest of the year and on Saturday, Oct. 4 the team travelled to the Santa Ana Invitational where Moorpark fared well. Eleven Southern teams were in attendance as well as top-ranked Sacramento Community College. MC tallied five placers at the tournament including two finalists in champion William Fulgentes and runner-up Ness Dominguez. Dominguez nearly defeated the No. 1 ranked wrestler at his weight class and was nominated by his coaches as Raider of the Week. Additionally, Emilio Medina placed fourth and Logan Hansen and Miles Kline shared fifth. All five of these student-athletes are poised to qualify for State competition. Aside from placers, the team collected three additional wins.
Moorpark wrestling is looking forward to hosting East LA College on Thursday, Oct. 9 beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Looking Ahead
Moorpark College will host Homecoming festivities during the week of Oct. 27-Nov. 1. Throughout the week, women’s soccer welcomes LA Pierce at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, women’s volleyball hosts Santa Barbara at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29 with the football game versus Santa Ana concluding the week with a 6:00 p.m. start on Saturday, Nov. 1.
